The stunning colours of Mari Pintau beach
Not far from Cagliari, along the coastal road that leads to the popular Villasimius, is the lively beach of Mari Pintau, famous for the incredible colour of its crystalline sea. Mari Pintau means “painted sea”, and passing through these parts, you can understand why.
The shades of the sea vary from intense blue to emerald and are the backdrop to the Mediterranean scrub that surrounds this corner of paradise. The beach is mainly made up of smooth stones, while the seabed is made up of pebbles and rocks that slowly make way for the sand. Close to Mari Pintau, you will also find two fantastic coves with a colourful sea: Cala Regina and Is Canaleddus.
How to reach Mari Pintau
The beach is located 30 km from Cagliari, along Provincial Road nr. 17 and about 25 km from Villasimius. This area is quite wild, so the only way to enjoy its spectacular beaches is to rent a vehicle. Forget about using the local buses because you would only reach the main towns and not the beaches along the coast. The closest town to Mari Pintau is Torre delle Stelle / Geremeas (about 6 km).
Beach facilities: Mari Pintau does not have a parking lot, so cars are left along the road. You will find a bar/restaurant, deckchair rental, sup rental, and a small bathing establishment on the beach.
