Our itinerary in Cambodia
Cambodia is well known for Angkor Wat, evidence of the glorious and ancient kingdom of the Khmer and UNESCO heritage since 1993. Behind wonderful monuments, forests, villages surrounded by rice fields, bustling markets, and a hospitable population, a sad recent past hides. Cambodian people lived one of humanity’s greatest tragedies that shook the twentieth century: the genocide of the Khmer Rouge. In Phnom Penh, the country’s capital city, among the many attractions, there are two touching places not to be missed to pay tribute to the millions of people unfairly killed: the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum. In 3 weeks, we combined our trip to Cambodia with Laos, another wonderful country out of mass tourism.
